Supply Chain

WORKING WITH WALTERS GROUP

We’ve come a long way since our inception in 1982 and we didn’t do it alone. We’ve grown with and alongside our many partners in business. A vital and ongoing aspect of this is our work with our supply chain, particularly SME’s and those local to our projects.

At Walters we operate an inclusive programme for suppliers and subcontractors to participate with us in the many civil engineering, plant and development projects we get involved with across the whole country. We recognise the expertise and specialist knowledge that local companies and contractors can bring to bear on a development. Despite our size and breadth of experience in many areas, we’re always open to hear from businesses with something to “bring to the table”. Having local suppliers for everything from concrete to paper towels (for the staff welfare units) also helps mitigate the carbon footprint of Walters group, essentially we don’t need to move so much stuff so far if we can source locally.

Across the group we have a long history of working with small business, large companies and SME’s of all sizes, through our many associated companies and activities. Local employment is important to us, it is after all the very lifeblood of sustaining vibrant communities. We believe that by employing local contractors and labour, we fulfil a little of our social responsibility to share the benefits of secure work and contracts on major infrastructure projects. Many of these require our expertise and inside knowledge of the tendering and planning process, skills and experience that most SME’s don’t have at their disposal. Working with us, it’s possible to gain access to the valuable work these major project provide, without the process of direct tendering.

We’re always open to listen to any partnership proposals for the supply of goods or services nationwide as well, but if you operate in the locality of one of our major projects, please drop us an email with details of your offering. The best format would be in the form of a corporate brochure, stating your core business, what you can offer us and which projects you’re interested in supplying. We’ll sift through them and get in touch with you if we see some synergy – or maybe a supply chain gap which your company can fill successfully. You’ll be invited to present more formally and discuss how we can work together. Even if we don’t see a current opening, we’ll keep your details on file and review them periodically for “best fit” with new projects.

To help us to expand and diversify our supply chain, we have recently developed an online vendor management database. The database allows us to view and filter by speciality our entire supply chain in a map based environment, currently consisting of over 700 specialist providers of sub-contract and supply services.

Please register on our vendor database by following the link below and completing the competency assessment questionnaire:

Careers

Due to our constantly changing requirements for staff and the vastly differing array of projects we’re constantly involved in, we’re always alive to the need for good people.

We operate in fast moving and constantly shifting markets and we aim to be agile and swift in responding to its requirements. We frequently undertake local recruitment drives according to the area where we’ll be operating. If we can, we prefer to give preference to candidates who live near our sites, maximising convenience, minimising disruption and associated travel. It also returns money to the local area and can provide much needed employment.

When we have specific role requirements for projects, if we’re unable to fill them from our retained staff, we’ll notify the positions on our own website, social media channels and through advertising in local papers, radio and websites.

If you’re interested in having us consider you for future employment, simply forward your CV by email to mail@walters-group.co.uk, do include a covering letter, letting us know which (if any) project you’re interested in – or are local to. Periodically we’ll review all the CV’s we’ve received against group wide staffing requirements and let you know if we’d like to meet and progress things.

Please keep an eye on our Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook pages for news on developments and opportunities with Walters.

“Walters are a unique company to work for as they operate in a very professional manner but with family values. You really feel part of a team and valued for your contribution.”
James Tuck, Graduate Engineer
