Following our continued success and development of Quantity Surveyor apprenticeships, Reeve Thomas, who resides in Neath, formally joined the business in September 2024 based in the Welsh Region.
Reeve attended Cefn Saeson Comprehensive gaining GCSE qualifications, followed by further education at Neath College where he gained BTEC and NVQ qualifications. Reeve initially worked with Walters for two months at our Dyffryn Rhondda project for Neath Port Talbot Council via the Cyfle shared apprenticeship scheme, under the guidance of Joe Meeke, who himself joined the business 10 years ago as an Apprentice QS.
Reeve will commence his day release study towards gaining a BSc in Quantity Surveying at University of Wales Trinity Saint David (Swansea campus) and will work at our Bro Tathan Utilities project in St Athans for the Welsh Government.
We recently caught up with Reeve, who commented:
“I started with Walters UK through Cyfle in a temporary capacity, as part of Walters’ social value commitments on a scheme for Neath Port Talbot Council in Dyffryn Rhondda. During this period, a position for a permanent Apprentice Quantity Surveyor arose within Walters, and it was an opportunity I could not turn down.
I am eager to broaden my knowledge and understanding of the role by working alongside qualified Quantity Surveyors, and the wider project team. I am hoping to gain enough knowledge and experience to be responsible for managing my own projects in the coming future and overseeing schemes commercially.”
