Project Outline:

Walters is supporting National Highways on the A417 Missing Link, a major infrastructure scheme designed to resolve congestion, improve safety, and create a more reliable connection between the M4 and M5 corridors.

The project replaces the single-carriageway section between Brockworth and Cowley with a consistent dual-carriageway route. Our involvement contributes to one of the region’s most important transport upgrades, aimed at reducing delays, supporting economic growth, and enhancing long-term network resilience.

Project Delivery:

From a Walters perspective, delivery has centred on providing large-scale earthworks, enabling works, haul-road construction, and supporting safe traffic management across a highly constrained live-network environment.

Working closely with Kier and National Highways, we’ve deployed specialist plant, experienced engineering teams, and robust environmental controls to manage sensitive landscapes, steep topography, and complex logistics. Throughout delivery, we have prioritised safety, programme certainty, and collaborative planning to keep the project moving efficiently.

Added Value & Client Partnership:

Walters adds value through early contractor engagement, innovative earthworks methodologies, and a solutions-focused approach that helps optimise programme and cost for the client.

Close partnership working with National Highways, Kier and project partners has enabled transparent communication, proactive risk management, and dependable delivery performance.
