• Key utility infrastructure works
• Installation of water, power, drainage, and communications networks
• Complex trenching and service diversions on a live airfield environment
• Strong collaboration with designers and statutory undertakers
• Enabling works supporting future commercial and aviation development
Project Outline:
Walters supported the development of the Bro Tathan site by delivering key utility and infrastructure works essential for unlocking new commercial and aviation-related development opportunities.
The project formed part of a wider programme to transform the former MOD St Athan airbase into a strategic employment and innovation hub. Our role focused on installing new utilities, upgrading existing networks, and providing the critical groundwork required to future-proof the site for incoming tenants and long-term growth.
Project Delivery:
Walters delivered a full package of utility infrastructure works, including water, power, drainage, and communications installations across multiple zones of the Bro Tathan development area. This required extensive trenching, ducting, and service diversions, carried out while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards on a live and operational airfield environment.
Close coordination with designers, statutory undertakers, and site stakeholders ensured utilities were installed accurately, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to ongoing operations and future construction phases. Our team also provided civil engineering and enabling works to prepare plots for development, supporting smooth progression into subsequent phases.
Added Value & Client Partnership:
Walters added value through early engagement, programme-driven planning, and a flexible approach to working around the client’s evolving site requirements. By maintaining close collaboration with the client, design teams, and key stakeholders, we were able to sequence works effectively, overcome site constraints, and deliver infrastructure that aligns with Bro Tathan’s long-term development strategy.
