Walters recently welcomed Tom Diamond to the company as a Graduate Engineer in the South Wales region. Tom joins following completion of a BEng in Civil Engineering from Swansea University, which included a year working in industry.
Tom is currently based at our project in Haverfordwest where the team are working for Pembrokeshire County Council to replace a footbridge spanning the Western Cleddau River. Tom said,
“there’s a lot that goes into planning and constructing a scheme of this scale. The project is giving me the opportunity to learn about the complexities of civil engineering with the help of our experienced team. I’ve been surveying and setting-out and getting as much hands-on, practical experience as possible to really cement my understanding of the basic principles of site engineering.”
Beyond Haverfordwest, Tom is looking forward to getting involved with the range of different civil engineering projects that Walters undertake;
“I’m excited to work on larger infrastructure projects, such as highways and wind farms, which have a significant positive impact on society. I’m also looking forward to taking part in some of our charitable initiatives such as our work with The Trussell Trust and other community-focused events that benefit the areas we work in.”
It great to see Tom’s drive and enthusiasm to learn and develop;
“I’m looking forward to getting involved with the latest technologies, such as machine control, as it’s where the future of civil engineering is heading. In 5 years’ time I’d like to be a Junior Site Agent with the company.”
Welcome Tom! Great to have you onboard.
