PROJECT OUTLINE

Walters were engaged by Northern Racing then handed the reins for the challenge of rejuvenating the main entrance area of this famous old Racecourse, in time for the main event in the Chepstow racing calendar – the Coral Welsh Grand National.

PROJECT DELIVERY

Walters responded quickly to establish the Client”s requirements and mobilise labour, plant, equipment and materials to site to get the works underway.

The works commenced with service disconnections and removal of asbestos containing materials from the redundant buildings. The redundant buildings were then soft stripped and demolished. The arisings from the demolition work  were cleared from site to licensed recycling centres.

Walters designed and constructed two new Event Plateau”s at the main entrance into the Racecourse. The Event Plateau works included the construction of all associated retaining walls, brickwork, rendering, drainage
and service infrastructure.

Following construction of the new Event Plateau”s, Walters resurfaced the entire racecourse entrance area with new tarmacadam surfacing to finish the job.

Walters skilled and experienced operatives completed the Chepstow works on time and to the Client”s budget in extremely challenging winter conditions. The works transformed the entranceway to this famous old Racecourse, enhancing the race day experience for the Chepstow punters.
