As a Contracts Manager you will:
- Promote a cohesive approach across safety, production, engineering, delivery, sales and accounting.
- Complete all required reporting within established timeframe, present information in a concise manner to various audiences, answer related questions with a knowledge and forward-thinking approach.
- Compile accurate monthly forecast reports from historical quantitative analysis data to support the development of the annual plan.
- Provide relevant business performance feedback to the board of directors monthly.
- Promote a safety-first culture for the business and ensure ongoing improvement initiatives are being delivered.
- Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations.
- Champion excellence to the customer (OTD, quality, reasonable lead times, responsiveness) act as the “voice of the customer” internally whilst protecting external commercial interests.
- Negotiate key contracts and agreements with customers within defined parameters, working closely with the senior management.
- Understand customer’s requirements and resolve any problems identified efficiently.
- Seek and understand competitor offerings and technologies in the marketplace, assess their strengths and weaknesses and define a competitive response.
- Degree or equivalent in Business Management, Commercial or Engineering discipline, however real-life experience and competence will also be recognised.
- An ambitious professional with a “go-getting” approach and strong leadership skills.
- Results-oriented, good judgement, decision making skills and a proven record of achievement with demonstrable commercial and business management experience.
- Ideally 5+ years of management experience, able to balance the requirement to work strategically as well as with the day-to-day demands involved with such operations on a 365-day 24 hr basis and the pressures and skills needed to balance such operation with home life.
- Highly knowledgeable in Safety, Environmental and quality aspects e.g. ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO 9001, and able to drive and lead team to improve and maintain certifications. (Knowledge of working on large COMAH sites desirable).
- A proven track record of success in a customer facing roles is preferable.
- Minimum of 5+ years’ related experience in a highly visible business development, operational management role including experience of preparation of bids, proposals, contract negotiation and capture/winning new business.
- Strong business acumen, highly numerate and a good problem solver who can learn quickly, interpret, and develop commercial business cases with a high degree of interpersonal skills to develop and maintain diverse customer business relationships.
- Credible leader, able to build trust, bring the team together & work cross-functionally with a willingness to develop and mentor direct reports to drive their development.
