The Walters Team working at North Town Bridge in Taunton, have recently completed the installation of a new section of parapet which exactly matches the existing 100+ year old Grade II listed parapet on the bridge!
The new section of parapet was constructed by Walters’ specialist subcontractor Dorothea Restorations. 3D laser scanning technology was used to create new moulds which were then used to cast the new section of parapet to precisely replicate the original. A bespoke foundation was constructed along with new brackets and end posts. Finally, the new parapet was painted insitu with a special fluoropolymer paint in the original colours to match the vibrancy of the remainder of the newly refurbished bridge. We think it looks amazing!
Our works at North Town Bridge have included grit blasting and repainting of all steelwork, concrete repairs, structural repairs and waterproofing and expansion joint replacement to the bridge deck. The works are scheduled to be complete at the end of August 2024.
