The organisation that sets standards and develops training and skills for the extractive sector, MPQC, has welcomed Huw Richards, Walters Group Managing Director, to its Board.
As part of a drive towards diversifying industry input by including more representatives, Huw was invited to join Senior Directors from a range of major aggregate and mineral companies, as well as trade associations, who form the MPQC Board.
As a collective, the Board meets at least three times a year to decide the overall strategic direction of MPQC, based on industry requirements, as well as the distribution of resources, funds and responsibility.
On joining the Board, Huw Richards said: “I think it”s great that the MPQC Board includes a variety of voices giving input on the future of our sector. I will be able to give a different outlook that will hopefully result in a more complete picture of the industry as a whole. I”m very happy to accept the invitation.”
Huw has been key to the growth and success of Walters Group for more than two decades and is involved with all aspects of the Group”s, now diverse, activities that include civil engineering, plant services and development.

Huw will join Darren Stokes, Managing Director of Tripod Crest Ltd, at their first MPQC Board meeting on the 26th April, bringing the number of Directors to 9. They will sit alongside representatives from British Aggregates Association, Tarmac Trading Ltd., Cemex UK Operations Ltd., The Mining Associations of the UK, Hanson UK, Mineral Products Association and Breedon Group Plc.
