Walters welcome new trainee – Rhod Gilbert
This is the tab body content. It is typically best to keep this area short and to the point so it isn't too overwhelming.

Walters jumped at the chance of showing Rhod Gilbert what maintaining the country’s roads is really like. As Wales’ largest civil engineering firm we were the natural choice for the BBC Wales hit programme – Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience.

Filming took place in November and December 2019 with the Welsh comedian joining our crew of road workers across South Wales. It was also a nice synergy that Rhod is a patron of Velindre Cancer Centre, our nominated charity for 2020.

After an H&S induction, training with an excavator and completing a road safety course in Bridgend, Rhod heads out on the road to get some first-hand experience. From building kerbs and getting behind the wheel of a digger called a pecker, to traffic management in Newport, the comedian does it all as he immerses himself in life as a road worker. But with all the signs pointing to appalling weather, a risky environment, and back-breaking labour, will the team ‘dig’ road-work-rookie Rhod’s digging?

Find out how Rhod gets on with us on Friday 19th June at 9 pm BBC Wales
