PROJECT OUTLINE

This project involved the demolition and site clearance of 53 redundant social housing units for Valleys to Coast Housing Limited, across three separate sites in South Wales: Maesteg, Bridgend and North Cornelly.

Each demolition site was located within a live housing estate environment with severe access and working constraints due to the proximity to occupied houses and live utility service apparatus. The Works included the termination of all utility service connections to the redundant properties, soft stripout of internal fixtures and fittings, structural demolition, removal of slabs/foundations and finally, landscaping and seeding.

PROJECT DELIVERY

Walters completed the demolition Works across all three sites on time and to the Clients budget. This was achieved through detailed planning and close liaison with local residents and the Client”s project management team.

Walters experienced demolition operatives worked in confined corridors to systematically deconstruct the redundant blocks and clear each site on a block by block basis. Traffic and pedestrian management was a key issue, as all arisings from the Works were removed to off-site recycling centres.

Subsoil and topsoil was imported under strictly controlled conditions to ensure the safety of all in the vicinity as the Works progressed.
