The site area was treated as a contaminated zone and strict control measures were implemented to control access and eliminate the risk of potential further contamination spread. The damaged structure was carefully deconstructed in a piecemeal fashion. All waste arisings were segregated at source and disposed of at specialist licensed recycling facilities.
DustBoss water atomising spray A company owned DustBoss water atomising spray unit was employed throughout the work to provide efficient and effective dust control and background air quality monitoring was undertaken throughout for reassurance purposes.
Working closely with fire investigation teams, Walters made safe a section of the structure, allowing forensic investigators to enter and recover certain items to assist with their investigations. Following the demolition, the remaining structure was left secure and waterproof on completion, leaving a relieved and satisfied Client!
A section of the “Football Factory” industrial unit in Avondale Industrial Estate, Cwmbran was left in an unsafe state after fire spread quickly through office, bar and gym areas, leaving the front section of the building in need of urgent demolition.

Walters prepared method statements and risk assessments on the fire damaged Football Factory at short notice and liaised with utility service providers and the HSE to facilitate a swift mobilisation to site.
Due to the fire damaged state of the structure, no personnel could safely enter the building to remove asbestos containing materials or other hazardous materials prior to mechanical demolition, making this a challenging project requiring expert planning and execution.
