PROJECT OUTLINE

These Newport office demolition works were undertaken on a confined site, within a live Government office facility environment, over a 12 week period. The challenge in this instance involved the demolition of a redundant computer block and the construction of a car park, on the same footprint at the Office of National Statistics .

PROJECT DELIVERY

Walters engaged the services of their HSE licensed supply chain partners to erect scaffolding and remove licensed asbestos containing cladding materials from the exterior of the building under controlled conditions. The building was then soft stripped, dismantled and cleared, working from within the footprint of the building at all times.

Car park works including drainage, footpath and formation construction, as well as kerbing and surfacing followed the demolition. Disruptive works were undertaken outside of normal office working hours, to minimise disruption of the day to day running of the Government facility.
